After obtaining my PhD degree from Tilburg University, the Netherlands in 1990, I became assistant professor at this university. In January 2001, I took up the chair professorship in Dutch Linguistics at Utrecht University, the Netherlands. I am affiliated to the Department of Languages, Literature and Communication (Division: Dutch linguistics) and the Utrecht Institute of Linguistics-OTS.
